Ifri, the first French think tank or "idea factory" aimed at a deeper analysis of international issues, is now recognized as one of the very first European think tanks and one of the most important in the world. Founded in 1979 and directed by Thierry de Montbrial, the French Institute of International Relations aims to produce policy-oriented research on pressing international issues and the emergence of major global trends, and spark discussion between policymakers, researchers, and other leaders on both a domestic and international level.
