This channel brings the adventurous spirit of historic seafarers to Google Earth and to YouTube: Cook's First Voyage Round the World aboard H.M. Bark Endeavour; Joshua Slocum's first solo circumnavigation in his yawl the Spray; and the perilous rescue attempt of Sir Ernest Shackleton in the James Caird; all are presented here. The starting point for each presentation is an original text; Captain Cook's Journal During the First Voyage Round the World; Joshua Slocum's Sailing Alone Around the World; and Sir Ernest Shackleton's South provide the respective narratives. 3D models created in SketchUp are animated in Google Earth. Each model follows the course of a voyage. The animations are captured from the screen using Active Presenter; then the soundtrack and annotations are added. Finally, the videos are exported as mp4 files and uploaded to YouTube.
