'World music' is a title coined in the late 20th century more as a marketing term but has come to mean any kind of non-Western traditional music such as world fusion, global fusion and worldbeat. Globalisation and the rise of social media has meant that what was previously obscure music for music nerds is now available to all who want to expand their musical universe and learn a little about the origins and culture in which it was created.
