I love playing jazz piano. I started playing jazz in my mid twenties I'm currently 59 years old. I began piano lessons at 9. I quit formal lessons at 16. I studied classical, but also played a fair amount of gospel for church as a teenager. At 26 I was lucky enough to find a jazz piano instructor who had a great methodology. I took for about a year. Mainly he taught me how to listen to recordings and solo's, and how to emulate them. Unfortunately, work took me away from piano for a while, but the past few years I have been much more consistent in playing. My work really doesn't allow me to gig, so I pretty much play for my own enjoyment. I saw some great solo video's on youtube, so I thought I would join in. I hope somebody out there enjoys it.
