Pamela Poulan
In 2006, married with three children, my life catastrophically changed in the blink of an eye. I sustained an incomplete (c4-c5) spinal cord injury from an accidental fall and forced to learn how to live life as an incomplete quadriplegic.
I’ve learned how important consistent regular exercise/physical activity is to stay healthy. “A body in motion stays in motion, a body at rest stays at rest.” As a wheelchair user in Louisiana, going to a local fitness center has many barriers.
I am working on a Business Plan that can remove the barriers to consistent accessible exercise and physical activity, and empower our Louisiana communities who have disabilities, chronic health conditions, injuries, obesity, as well as the aging older adult population. access statewide to Community Adaptive Fitness Centers that are wheelchair accessible facilities, adaptive, accessible exercise equipment, machines & group classes.
