Agricultural Sustainability
Our mission is to ensure access to healthy food and to promote the vitality of agriculture today and for future generations. We do this through integrative research, education, communication and early action on big, emerging issues. SAREP provides leadership and support for scientific research and education in agricultural and food systems that are economically viable, conserve natural resources and biodiversity, and enhance the quality of life in the state's communities. The Russell Ranch Sustainable Agriculture Facility is a unique 300-acre facility near the UC Davis campus dedicated to investigating irrigated and dry-land agriculture in a Mediterranean climate. The Student Farm offers a wide range of opportunities for students to learn about and explore the many aspects of sustainable agriculture. Students majoring in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems focus on the social, economic and environmental aspects of food and agriculture - from farm to table and beyond.
