Health Volunteers
Health Volunteers Overseas is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the availability and quality of health care in developing countries through the training and education of local health care providers.
HVO accomplishes its mission by sending highly qualified and committed health care professionals on short-term assignments to more than 60 different sites world-wide. HVO volunteers not only teach, but also guide curriculum design, influence national health policy and promote realistic health interventions using appropriate technology.
Over the past twenty-five years, HVO has sent more than 4,370 volunteers overseas and they have completed more than 7,900 assignments. These volunteers have worked side-by-side with their colleagues providing new insights and techniques. They have introduced new teaching methodologies, updated or created teaching curricula, and inspired new ways of thinking.
