Gold Circle is part of a multi-faceted and integrated industry, organizing thoroughbred horseracing events throughout KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. Its operating assets include several racecourses in Cape Town, Durban and Pietermaritzburg; world-class thoroughbred training centres in both provinces, as well as a network of 68 company-owned betting outlets and 119 independently-owned outlets. In addition, it also offers fixed odds betting through a subsidiary, Betting World. With an annual turnover in excess of R1.8 billion, Gold Circle is a key player in the national horseracing industry.
Gold Circle is renowned for staging two of the major horseracing events in the country, the Vodacom Durban July and the J&B Met, held at Greyville Racecourse and Kenilworth Racecourse respectively. The company was created by the amalgamation of several Racing Clubs and organizations representing thoroughbred breeders, owners and trainers in South Africa's key breeding and racing regions.
