Reelblack's mission is to ensure the legacy of Black film via content, promotion and education. Since 2007, we have been capturing the New Black Film Revolution through interviews with the filmmakers, actors and musicians that make up the movement.
Reelblack founder MIKE D. is a graduate of both NYU film School and The American Film Institute. His 2008 short film, THE 13TH AMENDMENT played in several festivals and won the jury prize in CNN's inaugural IREPORT FILM FESTIVAL. His 1989 NYU short, WHO IS CHRIS ROCK? went viral after being featured on Huffington Post and spawned a follow-up, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, JORDAN ROCK in 2011. Reelblack is a founding member of Array and produced the first hour long special on Ava DuVernay and AFFRM called AFFRM LIVE.
